Days Like This...

I'm sure even Lance has days like this...you get out on the road, ready for your workout and you quickly discover you have nothing to give. You may be ready mentally but physically, you can't generate the power you need.

What do you do on days like this?

Today I made the choice to cover the distance, no matter how long it took me. Today I had to accept that the pace was going to be S-L-O-W but I still covered my 6 miles. While I was able to manage intervals, they were not any where near what I would consider close to a "run" pace so I am considering the workout a "power walk" for the sake of recording mileage.

It was a beautiful, sunny, cool One hour and thirty minute walk with some run intervals. Some days you take what your body can give and are thankful.

Thankful and Living STRONG!

Lance did, and does, have days like this...

Do you remember Paris-Nice this year? Didn't stop him from the Magnificent 7 though!!

Good job on switching the game plan, instead of justing turning the switch off.

Good job! i couldn't face 6 miles today, so the only place I ran was back to bed. I ain't gonna get nowhere that way!!

Good for you for getting out and going the distance. Some of us might have just gone back home.

Good job..these are the hard days to train...

someone once said "I don't train for easy days, I train for the hard days."

The day is definitely a hard day.

Sounds like you made a right call. We all have days where we just show up to the workout. Maybe we cover the distance but that's all we have. Now, if I felt like that for a couple of workouts it would be different. Congrats on your workout.

Consider it an excellent workout of your fat-burning aerobic system in your target heart range. :-)

Plus a good one for reinforcing that mental strength that you have in spades!

When I have a day like that, I usually take a rest day. Your body obviously needs it. Sometimes, when done properly, you can gain more fitness benefits from resting than grinding out mileage. Good luck.

You've gone me one better, for sure.... I was having a bad run and bagged it.

Way to gut it out, Holly.
